By law the first MOT test for a vehicle is required when it’s three years old.
Remember if you have had the vehicle from new - the vehicle could have been pre-registered and the date the MOT is due may not be the same as the date you acquired the vehicle.
The MOT is carried out by one of our nominated testers. A nominated tester is a person authorised by the government body called VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency).
Our nominated testers are fully qualified and have attended training courses at the VOSA training centre in Chadderton.
If your vehicles passes the MOT test you will be issued with a VT20 pass certificate. A VT30 will be issued should the vehicle fail to meet the required standards. You may also receive an “Advisory Notice” a form VT32. This form advises items which, although not quite a failure at the time of test, warrant attention in the near future.
Once your vehicle is tested your test record is entered onto a secure central database. Computerisation of the MOT scheme means police and mobile camera units can now check remotely to see if your vehicle has a current MOT. Computerisation also means It is now possible to purchase your road fund licence online.
All MOTs are offered on an “APPOINTMENT BASIS”. You are welcome to wait in our reception area or view the test in our viewing area. If it is more convenient you can always leave the vehicle and call back later.
